From the Classroom to the Real World: My First Global Internship at Nuanu, Bali

One of the most exciting opportunities we are building into our student pathway is the chance for young people to experience the world of work years before they have to choose a university degree or career.

Through the Academy of Entrepreneurs' partnership ecosystem, students will have access to international experiences at Nuanu Creative City in Indonesia, a living laboratory where entrepreneurship, sustainability, technology, education, hospitality, wellness, media, architecture and social impact come together in one extraordinary environment.

Grades 7–10: My First International Internship

For students in Grades 7–10, Academy of Entrepreneurs is developing My First International Internship at Nuanu Creative City, Indonesia: four intensive internship days designed to answer one of the biggest questions young people ask at school:

“When am I ever going to use this in real life?”

Instead of separating academic learning from the world of work, students discover how the subjects they are already studying become real skills inside businesses, organisations and future careers.

Mathematics becomes finance as students work with pricing, budgets, data and business decisions.

Science becomes sustainability and innovation as students explore biodiversity, environmental challenges, wellness and solutions for a greener future.

English becomes professional communication as students interview professionals, tell stories, present ideas and communicate their solutions.

Technology becomes AI and the future of work as students use artificial intelligence, digital tools and automation to create practical outputs.

Social Studies becomes a social impact as students explore culture, communities, sustainability and how organisations can solve real societal problems.

Arts becomes branding, architecture, design and media, giving creative students an opportunity to see how their talents translate into real careers.

And Business and Entrepreneurship becomes real business, with students exploring customers, marketing, operations, sales and innovation.

Up to Eight Internships in Four Days

Students work in small teams and rotate through eight different workplaces and organisations across four intensive days, completing two internship experiences each day.

Within the Nuanu ecosystem, those experiences can expose students to areas including future cities and sustainability, biodiversity and environmental science, hotels and hospitality, marketing and business, media and creative industries, social impact, entrepreneurship and innovation, and AI and the future of work.

And they don't simply visit.

Every internship has a challenge and an output.

Students might develop a Future City Improvement Concept, create a Biodiversity Innovation Concept, conduct a Customer Experience Audit, build an AI-powered marketing campaign, produce a short Future of Work video, develop a Social Impact Campaign, create a Mini Business Model, or build an AI prototype and pitch it as a team.

The workplace becomes their classroom.

Connecting School to Careers

Throughout the experience, every student builds a Global Internship Passport connecting:

WORKPLACE → CAREER → SCHOOL SUBJECT → SKILL → CHALLENGE → OUTPUT → REFLECTION

This is important because at 13, 14 or 15 years old, we don't expect students to know exactly what career they want.

We want them to experience enough different careers to start discovering what excites them.

A student who loves maths might suddenly understand how those skills connect to finance or entrepreneurship.

Someone who loves drawing might discover branding or architecture.

A student obsessed with TikTok and videos might discover professional media and content creation.

Someone fascinated by science might discover biodiversity, sustainability or environmental innovation.

And a student who loves technology might discover that AI can become a tool for solving problems across almost every industry.

By the end of the experience, students haven't simply toured eight organisations. They have worked, created, interviewed, calculated, designed, communicated, problem-solved and built.

They return home with international workplace experience, practical portfolio outputs, reflections, certification and a much clearer connection between what they learn at school, what they love doing, and what they could one day become.

That is My First International Internship: turning school subjects into real-world experiences and helping young people discover the future before they have to choose it.

Grade 12: Nuanu Future of Work Immersion Lab

For Grade 12 and Senior High School students, Academy of Entrepreneurs is developing the Nuanu Future of Work Immersion Lab, an intensive 4-to-10-day international work immersion experience designed to strengthen what students are already learning at school by placing them inside real organisations.

Nuanu Creative City provides an extraordinary environment for this because students can experience multiple industries and professions within one international ecosystem.

Depending on their academic pathway and interests, students can rotate through organisations and projects connected to business, hospitality, food and beverage, real estate, sustainable development, biodiversity, education, wellness, media and creative industries, technology, entrepreneurship and social impact.

The program can be aligned with ABM, STEM, HUMSS and GA learning areas and designed to complement the Philippines' DepEd Strengthened Senior High School Curriculum, with schools able to map the experience to their own Work Immersion requirements, competencies, assessments and required hours.

This Is Work Immersion, Not Work Observation

Students aren't there simply to watch professionals work.

They are given real challenges to solve.

They might analyse the finances of a business, improve a customer experience, create an AI-powered concierge, develop a marketing solution, investigate a sustainability challenge, design a biodiversity or wellness prototype, produce a social-impact campaign, create professional media content, or work on another challenge identified by their host organisation.

Students work alongside professionals, investigate problems, collaborate in teams, use AI and emerging technology, and turn their learning into practical outputs.

The experience culminates in a Professional Hackathon Challenge, where students bring together what they have learned across their rotations to develop and present a solution to a real-world problem.

Students leave with documented international workplace exposure, professional outputs for their portfolios and certification recording their participation, hours and competencies developed.

Where a school wants the program formally recognised toward its Senior High School Work Immersion requirements, Academy of Entrepreneurs can work with the school in advance to map the required hours, competencies, activities, assessments and evidence against the school's approved curriculum requirements.

From Work Immersion to University

What makes the model particularly powerful is that the experience doesn't have to end when students fly home.

We are building an education pathway that can take students from:

Career Discovery → International Work Immersion → Entrepreneurship & AI → Formal Qualifications → University

Students can continue through Academy of Entrepreneurs programs, international Study Tours, mentoring and assessed learning, with eligible learning contributing toward Academy of Entrepreneurs qualifications and, where applicable, providing access to credit-transfer pathways with partner universities.

The objective is to make every experience build on the previous one.

An international internship shouldn't simply produce photographs and memories.

It should produce skills, evidence, a professional portfolio, greater career clarity and a potential pathway into further education.

By the time students graduate from Grade 12, we want them to have already experienced different industries, worked alongside professionals, used AI in real-world environments, solved genuine organisational problems and begun understanding where their strengths could create the greatest value.

Nuanu becomes the bridge between what students learn at school and the world they are about to enter.

And that is ultimately what we believe is one of the most valuable investments we can make in a young person: not telling them what their future should be, but giving them enough real-world experience to start building it themselves.

Supported Every Step of the Way

The experience is designed to be highly supported, with approximately one school teacher accompanying every 6–10 students.

Students are therefore supported not only by the Academy of Entrepreneurs team and Nuanu professionals, but also by teachers from their own school who already understand their individual learning needs, strengths and development.

Importantly, the experience is designed to be just as valuable for the educators.

While students explore different industries and future careers, accompanying teachers gain firsthand exposure to emerging workplaces, AI, entrepreneurship, sustainability and new approaches to experiential education. They can observe their students outside the traditional classroom, identify strengths and interests that may not always be visible at school, and use those insights to help students develop more meaningful career and learning plans when they return.

In this way, the experience builds capacity at two levels: students discover their future, while teachers gain new tools, industry exposure and insights to help guide the next generation.
