When a Global CEO Walks into a Classroom in Makassar

Another meaningful day in Makassar unfolded with energy, curiosity, and possibility as Paula Mills, Founder and CEO of Academy of Entrepreneurs, visited a senior high school in Makassar for a special public lecture and masterclass.

This was more than a school visit. It was a moment where global experience met local aspiration and where students were invited to see their future from a much wider perspective.

How to Start Your Business with Zero Dollars

Paula delivered an inspiring masterclass titled “How to Start Your Business with Zero Dollars”, a topic that immediately resonated with students. Many young people believe that starting a business requires large amounts of capital, resources, or connections. This session challenged that belief completely.

Through real examples and practical storytelling, Paula showed students that in today’s world, ideas matter more than money. With free platforms, accessible technology, digital tools, and creativity, students can begin building a business from nothing.

Campaigns can be designed using tools like Canva. Brands can be shaped through storytelling, consistency. Business can begin with purpose, not capital.

What matters most is the willingness to start.

As the session progressed, the room was filled with curiosity. Students leaned in, listened closely, and began to imagine new possibilities they had never considered before.

A Classroom Full of Questions and Courage

What made the session truly special was the level of student engagement. Questions flowed naturally and confidently. Students asked about entrepreneurship, failure, confidence, social impact, and how to turn ideas into action.

Paula was visibly impressed by the depth and thoughtfulness of the questions, as well as the courage students showed in speaking up and sharing their ideas publicly.

This was a classroom alive with curiosity and ambition.

The school community played a key role in making the session successful. Teachers and staff were incredibly supportive, welcoming, ensuring the session ran smoothly and that students felt encouraged throughout.  The warmth of the school made learning feel open, human and empowering.

Thinking Bigger Than Yourself

One of the most powerful moments of the masterclass came through a simple but profound exercise.

Paula invited students to imagine helping three homeless people. Then she challenged them to think bigger.

What about thirty people?

What about thee thousand?

The message was clear. Impact starts small, but mindset determines scale

Students were encouraged to think beyond themselves, beyond immediate comfort, and toward action that creates meaningful change. It was not just about business. It was about responsibility, empathy, and leadership.

You could see the shift happening in real time.

A Lasting Impact on Young Minds

By the end of the session, something had changed. Students walked away with a broader mindset and a stronger sense of confidence. They had spoken openly with a global leader. They had asked questions. They had been heard.

Most importantly, they were reminded that their ideas matter.

This visit left more than inspiration. It planted belief. Belief that starting is possible, that leadership can begin at a young age and that students in Makassar are ready to dream bigger and act braver.

The school expressed deep appreciation for the visit, sharing how meaningful it was for their students to learn directly from a global entrepreneur. For Paula and the Academy of Entrepreneurs, it was another reminder that the future is bright when young people are given access, encouragement, and trust.

Sometimes all it takes is one conversation to change how a student sees their future.
